Library Awards

Velma K. Moore Award
NYSALB’s mission is to support trustees in their important work to strengthen their libraries. NYS libraries benefit from extraordinary individuals that serve libraries and this important work is recognized each year by NYSALB.

The Velma K. Moore Award recognizes community volunteers or library staffers who have made important differences to our library community, or who has traveled that extra mile to make things significantly better and or more effective for our libraries. This award includes a $750 stipend to winner’s library of choice.

Distinguished Service Award
This award may be conferred upon a group of people, or an individual, for noteworthy achievement as evidenced by substantial activities and exceptional service to the library community. The New York recipients or recipient shall have influence and reputation beyond the local community. This award shall be given at the discretion of the NYSALB Board.
